Title: Everyone knows everyone
Scene I
Venu: my quiet little office at work
Time: sometime yesterday just a bit before end of work
PPL: Me & HE
*Ring Ring*
*Ring Ring*
Me: Hello
HE: Hello, may I speak to DiiGMaa please.
Me: This is she.
HE: Oh I didn’t realize it’s a direct line.
Me: Well it’s not but I picked up the line randomly, how may I help you ?
HE: My name is So Al-So and I’m calling from Company Y.
Me: I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name.
HE: So Al-So.
Me: Wilni3im (thinking to myself I’ve come across that name)
Me: and what was the Company, my apologies your voice is distant ? (genuinely I couldn’t hear)
HE: Y
Me: aaahh yes I think I’ve approached you guys before for a project I had. (I had but it was with another person)
HE: Yeah most likely, but this is the first time I call you and just wanted to let you know about our services and I shall be sending you an email with more details.
Me: That’s great, thank you.
HE: Hope we can help you further with what you require and let me know if you are interested in any of the services.
Me: Will do, Thank you.
HE: Good Bye.
Me: Bye.
Scene II
- DiiGMaa thinking to herself:
Jeez I know that name.. how ? I’m sure I know that name !!
Scene III
- Facebooking later that day:
Went to a friends profile to leave a comment on his wall.. and lo and behold there he was.. So Al-So !! he had commented on my friends wall too.. I think to myself “ahaa there you go DiiGMaa !! I knew I had read/heard that name before”
Scene IV
- Is it or isn’t it HE ?
I figure, what are the odds that I just spoke to this person and now he’s commenting on my friends profile the same time I wanted to comment.. maybe it’s not him.. maybe same name.. so I click on his profile (HE if you’re reading this I swear I wasn’t trying to dig up on your info.. I was just reassuring myself that you’re the same HE).. and HE had listed the same Company Y so I am certain it’s him.
I smile and continue facebooking.
Scene V:
- I know you know who I know we know I don’t know !
After replying msges and commenting on walls and poking ppl to annoyance.. I decide it’s past bedtime and start closing the tabs and shutting down.. when I got to HE’s page, just before I closed the tab, my eye caught a glimpse of friends we have in common.. and there were quite a few.. and some were high-school friends, some were friends I met through friends and some were bloggers.. yep it turns out HE is also a blogger..
Curtains
And that my friends..
is how small this world is.. and Kuwait is a DiiGMaa too :P
HE: I don’t know your blog.. I just know you are a blogger.. so if you come across this post.. it was nice talking to you and you displayed excellent professionalism.. all the best :)
6 degrees of separation ?
More like 1 here in kuwait :)

LOL! its frightening how we’re not having enough privacy in Kuwait. everyone knows everyone indeed! (plz don’t investigate me)
that is why I do not like facebook, I do not like the exposure.
Hehehe! Nice story! Very interesting!
Six degrees of separation indeed! These social networking tools certainly make it a lot easier, it is positive in many ways of course :D
btw, that’s me Transparently if you haven’t guessed yet :p
yes I am a private person
LOOL! Really small world, and I’m with you that sometimes in Kuwait everyone is just one step away. So you really wouldn’t be surprised that you know someone else and you just keep jumping to the next!
The thing for me though is that I don’t get on Facebook or any of social networking sites so I have no clue who knows me or who knows the people I know! hehehe!
Yeah, it is tiny. I wonder how many bloggers I know. I already recognized two.
woohoo new post that i didnt know about :P
1 degree of separation? clever!
oh and can u do me a favor please
change the title from work-facebook-blogger
to work-facebook-wordpress
when people hear blogger, they see blogspot, and ur on wordpress blah blah blah tooo confusing for lots of people
Soon everyone will know everyone and we’ll all close down our blogs loool :)
This issue of 6 degrees of separation can either be a great thing … OR it might turn around and bite you in the ass.
LOL yea kuwait is so small, whenever i meet a blogger if find out he/she is friends with like several people i knw.
LOL that is so weird! :o I’ve been through something similar but not really. After I meet someone now, I look them up and see who knows who :-p It just saves time!
muhuhahaha
Guess I’m changing my nick!
Never thought I’d be interested in blogs, so I didn’t care if people found out who I was.
But this makes u feel human. From this you know people in Kuwait are just like u, they care, they have feelings & insecurities, while on the streets we have to act like we’re robots & don’t care about anything.
So know me while u can cause I’m joining your world undercover. ;)
Something like that happened to me too! A meeting went horrifically bad between one of my colleagues and a guy from another company and I attended that meeting. The guy from the other company was a blogger and he actually complained about my colleague on his blog without mentioning his name of course but because of the date of the post and because of him mistakenly putting his real name once when commenting I figured out it was him! I thought it was pretty funny :D
(But maybe you can help me with this: what’s the obsession with facebook these? I don’t get it? Why don’t people just email each other?)
ur right, I wonder how many other people I know.. The thing is I recognized those two bloggers without even trying, hehe. A post like “it’s my birthday!” or the profile. Oh, and make it 3 now..
